Traquair House (MAP LINK)
The Traquair Medieval Fayre is Scotland’s only authentic Medieval Fayre and is an unbeatable mix of medieval entertainment from jousting to jesters in the grounds of Scotland’s Oldest Inhabited House.
This is truly a family event with Jousting down the great grassed avenue of Traquair as well as a cannon firing display to start the event, archery, military drills and the occasional skirmish throughout the weekend.
Walk into the old walled garden and be transported back 500 years with medieval traders, wandering minstrels, jester shows, a gruesome exhibit of an executioners’ instruments of torture and even a chance to put yourself in the stocks if you dare!
You can learn some green working skills, try your hand at willow weaving or have-a-go at Longbow archery. There are many other demonstrations of ancient crafts such as a medieval forge, wool carding and dyeing, chain mail making and tapestry. For children, there is a wonderful sword and shield making workshop.
Delicious food will be on offer with a hog roast, wood-fired pizza from our own oven, buffalo burgers and a scrumptious Fayre Ale brewed on the premises in our 300-year-old brewhouse.

Schools and Home Schoolers
Schools and home education networks from across Fife and the surrounding areas are invited to attend on Friday 5th June. 2500 workshop spaces will be made available with 14 different reenactment groups, allowing children to experience Scottish history in a hands-on way.
Event History
History in the Park is Scotland’s only annual free to attend multi-period historical event celebrating 2000 years of Scottish history, from the Roman period to modern day. It began in 2019 with one local reenactment society, Marr Agus Fibh. Since then, it has grown each year, with 2025 bringing together 8 reenactment groups which showcased life in Scotland from the Roman Period to World War I. 2026 will be the 6th year for the multi-period historic event, where 14 Scottish Reenactment groups will bring even more of our history to life.
In 2023 we invited our first school to attend history workshops, with 20 pupils attending. In 2024 we increased this number to 105 who attended workshops on Viking history. 2025 saw over 225 pupils from Fife Primary schools and home education groups attend a range of historical workshops from 8 different time periods including the Roman, Viking, and Medieval periods, Stuart and Jacobean, World Wars I and II, and the Crimean War.
