Drop into the Govan Stones for lots of fun activity exploring ancient life in Scotland!

Meet warriors, artists and musicians from the lost medieval Kingdom of Strathclyde and find out what life was like in Scotland’s Viking-age!

Hear about fierce battles won and lost while getting up close to Glasgow’s giant Viking gravestones. Try on chain mail armour and find out how heavy a Viking sword is!

Choose your own Viking name and try your hand at medieval arts and crafts, like making clay pots, wool weaving and rune-writing with Cumbraland living history society!

Listen in to fantastic tales of myth and legend at drop-in ‘Cloud Faeries’ storytelling sessions!

Interested in finding out about the more gruesome side of historic research? Explore ghastly graves and disturbing digs as we tell you about some spooky archaeological finds!

Between 12pm and 3pm, drop-in to find out about the biographies hiding in our bones! The graveyard at Govan is believed to be the burial ground of Strathclyde’s ancient kings and powerful Viking settlers. Come along to find out about data archaeologists can extract from human skeletal remains to reveal hidden details about life in Scotland’s ancient past! ☠️
