Iron Age Cooking

Monday the 5th of August 1000-1600
The Scottish Crannog Centre, Aberfeldy (MAP LINK)

Our Celts are Coming weekend also gives visitors the opportunity to participate in an Iron Age Cooking Workshop led by Caroline Nicolay of Pario Gallico!

Using replica tools (knives, pots, cauldron) and ingredients that were available during the Iron Age, we will prepare and cook a meal over an open first to feed us all for lunch!

Participants will also be making flatbreads and/or oatcakes choosing ingredients according to their taste, possibly making butter, cooking eggs, fruits and vegetables in embers … we will try to adapt to what each participant is interested in learning or trying.

If there is time, we will learn how to wash dishes the historical way and/or how to light a fire with flint and steel.

There will also be a ‘break from history’ for tea, coffee and biscuits together with time to have a general chat about historical food, archaeology, tip-sharing and recipes fit for modern kitchens!

Workshop times: 10.00 – 16.00

Cost: £60 per person

For all enquiries and to book please contact
Caroline Nicolay at pario.gallico@gmail.com or telephone on 07513 730963.
